It could be that this is Jessica’s favorite holiday.
Last year was Jessica’s first Halloween ever – I’m not sure she understood what it was all about until people started giving her candy….then GAME ON…she hit every single house in the neighborhood.
This year she knows and understands Halloween. Well, I suppose as well as anyone can understand – I still wonder how in the world we ever started sending our children to strangers home to beg for candy? And who’s idea was it to dress them up?
Jessica’s costume this year was a Tinkerbell Fairy. It wasn’t a traditional Tinkerbell because her dress is strapless and not exactly appropriate for an almost 7 year old. But Jessica was happy with her more modest costume.
Traditionally we don’t give out candy….we give out toys. I mean seriously, the kids LOVE them and they certainly don’t miss one more piece of candy. This year we went a slightly different route. We found small Halloween bags of microwave popcorn at Costco and gave them out. The kids still loved them and I still felt good about not giving more candy.
It was a GREAT night and despite not knowing how all this got started Jessica is loving her 1,000 pounds of candy.
