Adopting Jessie

Two Years....

Is that even possible? Can it really be true that Jessica only joined our family two short years ago? Certainly no one who meets our family would ever think that she had been with us such a small amount of time. It is not possible for someone to talk to her and know that she has only been exposed to English for two years.

730 days…How can it be that this Princess has so completely and totally infiltrated the core our beings, has asserted her place into our family, she has won our hearts with such completeness that is hard to even comprehend that she has not been with us from birth.

Two short years ago we met our daughter. We never for one moment doubted she was our daughter. Her funny personality shone thru even in the midst of her life being turned upside down while we were in China. She was being ripped away from everything she had ever known and still had a wickedly funny personality – we didn’t speak the same language but that child could make us laugh!!! And 730 days later….she still has us laughing….every single day.

She is almost 7 years old. We feel like we missed so much of her life but that is not something that we ever dwell on – nothing can be done about that. What we do feel sad about, as any parent does, is how fast she is growing up. 730 days, she has lost all remnants of toddlerhood, every bit of baby fat is now gone. She is tall and lean…OK, not so tall, but definitely lean – a little girl, quickly growing into a young woman right before our eyes.
